Repairing the seat of jeans with sashiko
What will you need?
- Jeans with the seat in need of repair
- Patch fabric - preferably similar to the jeans/ stronger
- Sashiko Thread
- Needle
- Pins. (This link will take you to my Etsy Shop)
- Transfer
- Scissors for thread & Trimming fabric
Step 1
- Tidy up the edges of the damaged area of the jeans. Snip away any loose threads & frayed edges.
Step 2
- Cut your patch fabric. Your patch fabric should be in tact, and preferably slightly sturdier than the fabric you are repairing. The patch fabric should be larger than the area you are repairing.
Step 3
- Pin your patch fabric underneath the hole.
Step 4
- Peel your transfer and stick it over the mending area. Again, your stitching area should be larger than the patch. (Drawing below for reference)
Step 5
- Thread your needle. Using running stitch, stitch over all markings horizontally, then stitch all markings vertically.
Step 6
- Wash away the transfer by hand.
Finished!
